With news of Jurassic World and its release date flooding the internet late last night, fans all over the globe have gone into a frenzy of excitement. In a midst the chaotic celebration, a video recording (above) from a Star Wars convention in Germany has fooled quite a few people, high-profile movie blogs included, all because the video shares the same name as the next Jurassic Park film. But is it related at all to Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World? Quite simply put - no, it's not. Read on for more info...
So, the YouTube video above was posted by a Mr. Oliver Thompson, who's description of the video is as follows:
All I can say is this video was shown as part of Iain McCaig's presentation at the recent Star Wars convention in Germany (he's the fantastic concept artist and designer of Darth Maul). I can only presume it was part of a pitch for reigniting the JP movie franchise, if anyone can confirm please let me know. It was apparently shown to Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg. Mr McCaig actually said "it certainly got Steven interested in dinosaurs again..." I just think is so cool!
As a Jurassic Park fan, I can't honestly look at this video and think it's an actual pitch for a Jurassic Park film. It's clearly got "videogame" written all over it, going by the graphics alone. The music isn't even of the classic Jurassic Park tune - which would without a doubt accompany the triumphant return of one of cinema's greatest films of all time. But opinions aside, this afternoon, Jurassic World producer Frank Marshall replied to a fan question, asking for clarification on, if in fact the footage was related to the upcoming film or not. Frank promptly replied with:
@LeDoctor: "@ChrisLikesDinos @colintrevorrow No, not a part of the movie."
In addition to Frank's official statement, many of the YouTube users who commented on the video stated that it was a trailer for a canned video game, going by the same name.
Now who's to say this isn't a game for the film? Nobody knows. Universal could have simply put the game on hold because they owned the rights to the title and wish to pursue a film-to-game tie-in down the road? Whatever the case is, this is NOT a pitch trailer for Jurassic World, like many movie bloggers are claiming it to be.
I realize with Jurassic World's announcement, that any and all news pertaining to the film, whether it be a coincidental titling or not, will be a big traffic draw for movie bloggers, but unfortunately this has nothing to do with Jurassic World the movie. Sorry folks.

Seems like a video game a d not a trailer. It would make an awesome video game, and I guess I'm not the only one who thinks it could be the official jp4 video game.

It still looks awesome though, I hope it's for a jp4 video game as well.

If it is, I will be absolutely getting it. I only have a few dinosaur games, and I just love video games.

Frankly, I don't like it a whole lot. It's ok, but certainly not Jurassic Park/Jurassic World quality.

I thought it was unusual. Graphics, pteranodon design, music and flying pattern are all different than they are in the movies. I take it as a video game.

DinoFights: i agree but it was a quetzalcoatlus not a pteranodon
